Statement

The Manual for School Vehicle Operations produced by the Ministry of
Transportation states that firearms or any object that is dangerous in nature
must not be transported with students.

Procedure
  1. Skates - Skate blades shall be covered by guards, tied
    together and carried in a bag. The skates shall be placed
    on the floor of the bus at the student's feet.

  2. Skis and Poles - Skis and ski poles may not be
    transported on a school bus unless it is on a charter or
    excursion bus with the approval of the bus company.

  3. Hockey Equipment - Hockey equipment shall not be
    transported to and from school on a bus unless it is on a
    charter or excursion bus with the approval of the bus
    company.
    Hockey sticks may be taken to school on Mondays and
    returned on Fridays provided that they are stored in a safe
    and secure place as determined by the driver.

  4. Musical Instruments - Musical instruments may be
    transported if they can be kept on the student's lap.

  5. Skateboards/Scooters/Roller Blades - Skateboards,
    scooters, and roller blades shall not be transported on a
    school bus.

  6. Pets-Pets shall not be transported on a school bus with
    the exception of service/guide dogs according to (040)
    Transporting Students with Service Dogs.

  7. Other - The decision to transport other objects to and from
    schools shall be determined in advance by the principal and
    the school bus operator with STWDSTS.
